We had booked a stay in Danby in a different bed and breakfast 10 minute walk away, but it was dreadful, so we spent the night here then walked back for a shower and bed. Wish we had stayed here (we will next time) Friendly staff, dart board available and a busy but quiet atmosphere. Lovely it was

We can't comment on the accommodation as we didn't stay. However the staff, the food we're amazing. The staff were accommodating and very friendly, the food was great,we particularly enjoyed the homemade chips and steak pie.

Went for an evening meal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food and drink excellent. Great to be able to take the dogs in. Log fire very warming, especially as weather horrendous. Would definitely go again.

Great place in a great location. Staff are very helpful, and nothing is an issue. Rooms are very clean and have everything you need. Breakfast is to a good standard. The only issue we had is that the wifi is poor, often not working, but it's the yorkshire moors, so to be expected. Sits in a stunning are with amazing views

Unfortunately the rooms were fully booked but we stopped for a meal which was lovely. The bar is warm and cosy and the staff friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for a nearby wedding, thinking it was going to be a 4-star stay as advertised on Google. The woman working at the bar didn’t greet us, and there was no offer to help with our luggage and no info about our stay provided at all. Rooms are basic but the service was very unfriendly. There was no cleaning of the room during our two-night stay, and the woman working at the front didn’t offer us complimentary waters upon checking out (they didn’t replace anything in the room, and I had to pay for a water bottle) the breakfast was also not hot and very basic. Wouldn’t recommend, especially for £150/night.

We loved our stay at this great little hotel. It was a great base to get to Whitby and Scarborough and offered up some experiences when driving. I loved how friendly everyone was and how welcome you are made to feel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, even though sometimes, they appeared to be a little understaffed for the size of the restaurant and hotel. The hotel is located in a lovely quiet village, which is an ideal base for someone who wants a quiet time in a village with great food and drink. This would make an ideal base for a walking or cycling holiday.

I would have loved to give this venue five stars, but I cannot due to my recent experience. The hotel itself was perfect, offering a charming old cottage vibe with stunning scenery and numerous walking paths in all directions. Unfortunately, the problems began when we arrived for breakfast. Upon sitting down, we were informed that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant and were directed to the bar area instead. While I understand the policy, it would have been helpful to know this at check-in. The primary issue was the poor attitude and subpar customer service of the young woman handling breakfast. Despite arriving first and being the first to sit down, two tables were served before us, I noticed after I briefly stepped outside for fresh air. Her demeanor was unwelcoming; she never smiled, appeared displeased, and repeatedly emphasized that certain items were additional charges, which I found unnecessary and condescending. This staff member made my wife uncomfortable to the point where she almost voiced her concerns, which I talked her out of and advised a review will get more of a message across. I wonder was it due to us speaking Spanish? Unfortunately, we did not catch her name, but she was working as a breakfast waitress on the morning of Saturday, May 18th, 2024. I hope this feedback is taken into account. Other than that one issue, it was an excellent venue with amazing scenery, good food and comfortable bedrooms, I highly recommend. UPDATE: The owners completely ignored my review so more issues with your CS . I’ve updated the stars accordingly

Nice stay lovely views from bedroom. Bedroom very small nothing like picture on their website. Could do with a shelf or shelves in the bathroom as there was nowhere to put anything apart from on the floor. Food was lovely. The bar attendant was very helpful and pleasant and so was our waitress who was very attentive. I wish the same could be said about the lady behind the bar who greated us !

The loo for the disabled is simply a loo with a bigger door on it than the ladies and gents. There are no grab rails or the like installed. There is nothing for a disabled person to grab onto. For many disabled people using that loo would actually be dangerous. It's a disgrace. Spend fifty quid and make it safe!
